UK Championships 2015 - 13th June 2015

Torphichen & Bathgate Pipe Band attended their second competition on Saturday 13th June 2015, which was the UK Championships at, Stormont Park Northern Ireland.

Once again the band settled into the day with constructive practice from both pipers and drummers. Our allocated time was 15:09 in the Grade 2 arena and the requirement for the event was March, Strathspey and Reel, We drew our number one set, Highland Wedding, Susan MacLeod and John Morrison of Assynt House - the performance was well received by the crowds at Stormont Park.

The feedback again throughout the day was very positive and this was reflected in the greatly received comments made by fellow bandsmen and spectators. Due to the number of new players in the band, it has been difficult to spend as much time on our MSR’s, but we are happy with our progress so far. Finishing in ninth place overall, we once again sat just outside the prize list in the grade, although another good achievement for a band. We would like to thank everyone once again for their support on the day.

The next outing for the band Armadale Gala day on the 20th of June – the following week will see us back in competition mode as we take part in the European Championships on the 27th Grant Park in Foress. We would like to wish all pipe bands, of every grade a safe journey and all the very best for that day.

The band settled into the day with constructive practice from both pipers and drummers. Our allocated time was 14:09 in the Grade 2 arena where we gave a commanding performance which was well received by the crowd and fellow bandsmen.

The feedback throughout the day was very positive and this was reflected in the greatly received comments made in the piping press website report which gave a critique of our grade.

Finishing in seventh place overall, we sat just outside the prize list in a grade where the quality is improving year on year – a good achievement for a band with so many new players just in this season. The band would like to thank everyone for their support on the day.
